At least 3 persons have died, 15 injured and over 10,000 people have been affected due to the adverse weather conditions including strong winds due to Cyclone Mandous. According to DMC report, 2 houses completely destroyed, 2720 house are partially damaged due to bad weather. 15 districts were affected. One death reported due to fallen tree in Kuwara Eliya district.

The Cyclonic Storm “Mandous” over Southwest Bay of Bengal was located 230km east-northeast of Jaffna at 08.30am today (09). This system is very likely to move northwestwards and cross North Tamil-Nadu, Puducherry and South Andhra Pradesh coast over Southwest Bay of Bengal around night hours of 09th December.

Cloudy skies will prevail over most parts of the Island.  

Showers will occur at times in the Sabaragamuwa, Western and Central Provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

Several spells of showers will occur in the Northern, North-Central and North-Western Provinces.

Strong gusty winds of about (50-60) kmph can be expected at times over the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva & Central provinces and in Hambanthota district. (LankaXpress.com )
