Director General Health Services says that wearing face masks in public compulsory in Sri Lanka again. Director General Health Services says that considering the large public gatherings currently taking place in the country, lifting of the mandatory requirement to wear face masks outdoors is temporarily suspended with effect from today.

On April 19, Health Minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana said that wearing face masks in public will NOT be compulsory except during public transport and indoor functions. Wearing mask and Social Distancing are mandatory in Sri Lanka, if violated Rs. 10,000 fine & up to 6 month’s imprisonment.
