According to the NBRO, Air Quality Index that measures Air pollution, Gampaha has recorded 161 and Kandy 159 today (12) as at 10am. 100 – 150 in the AQI is termed ” Unhealthy for sensitive groups “.
Dr Anil Jasinghe, Secretary, Ministry of Environment requests children & elderly individuals with respiratory & heart diseases to wear a face mask during outdoor activities. Dr. Anil Jasinghe points out that people at risk would be safe if they stay indoors as much as possible.
