The Representative of Sri Lanka to the State of Palestine Nawalage Bennet Cooray  Presented his Letter of Credence to the President of the State of Palestine on 14 October 2021 at the Presidential Place in Ramallah.

The Representative of Sri Lanka was received at the Presidential Palace by a Guard of Honour and warmly welcomed by President Mahmoud Abbas.

The Representative of Sri Lanka conveyed the greetings of  President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Mahinda Rajapaksa to President Mahmoud Abbas and underscored the longstanding friendly relations that exist between the two countries and briefed President Abbas  on  the current developments taking place in Sri Lanka under the leadership of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

President Mahmoud Abbas thanked the Government and people of Sri Lanka for supporting the State of Palestine bilaterally and at international fora. The President wished the  Representative of Sri Lanka a successful tenure and expressed  confidence that the friendly relations between Palestine and Sri Lanka would be further enhanced during the tenure of the newly appointed Representative of Sri Lanka.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Riad Al-Malki,  Diplomatic Advisor to the President Dr. Majdi Al-Khaldi, and Commander of the Presidential Guards Brigadier Muneer Zuhbi were also present at the ceremony.

After the Credential Ceremony, the Representative of Sri Lanka visited the Mausoleum of the late President Yaseer Arafat in Ramallah and paid respects by placing a wreath.
