COLOMBO (LankaXpress.com) – In a significant gesture coinciding with the 15th National War Heroes’ Day, Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has promoted 114 officers and 1395 other ranks of the Sri Lanka Army.
This promotion, effective from May 19, 2024, recognizes the heroic efforts of those who sacrificed their lives to eradicate terrorism in Sri Lanka. The promotions, covering members of all Army regiments, were recommended by the Ministry of Defence and the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu.
This move honours the brave War Heroes and underscores the nation’s gratitude for their unwavering dedication and service.
