Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekara says that Norochcholai Unit 3 will be shutdown from June 13th for a period of 100 days for scheduled major overhaul maintenance work. Power generation will be managed without any power cuts with other Thermal Power Plants.
With the 30th Cargo of Coal currently unloading at Norochcholai, the full coal requirement of CEB for this season will be completed. There will be No Black Outs or Power Cuts as speculated earlier by CEB unions & media reports due to Coal shortages.
