The “Aswesuma” payments for the month of December, amounting to over Rs. 8 billion, have been transferred to the relevant banks, State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe revealed.
Accordingly, a sum of Rs. 8,793 million intended for 1,410,064 families, have been transferred to the banks, bringing the total amount of money spent for “Aswesuma” payments from July to December 2023 to Rs. 51,967 million.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the lawmaker revealed that 303,199 extremely poor families, 606,496 poor families, 290,624 vulnerable families and 209,745 transitional families have received payments.
