Fair weather will prevail over the island except for a few showers in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts, the forecasting division of the National Meteorological Centre said.

They said strong winds of up to 50 kmph can be expected on the western slopes of the central hills, in the northern, North-Central, southern, and North-Western Provinces, and in Trincomalee district.

Showers may occur in the sea areas off the coast, extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle. 

Winds will be south-westerly and speed up to 40 kmph.

Wind speed may increase up to 65 kmph in the sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and the sea area off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankesanthurai.

The wind speed may increase up to 50 kmph in the other sea areas around the island.

The sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai will be rough at times. The other sea areas around the island may be fairly rough.
