There are long queues at the filling station islandwide to buy kerosene. The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation says that the prevailing shortage of kerosene will be resolved in a few days. A ship carrying crude oil has arrived in Sri Lankan waters and is expected to be released this week.

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) said that the Sapugaskanda oil refinery will be reopened after the release of the crude oil consignment.

The corporation also stated that it has to incur a loss of around Rs. 200 per liter of kerosene when importing kerosene at the prevailing price and supplying it to the consumers at subsidized prices.
