IMF Approves Next Tranche for Sri Lanka
Colombo, June 12 (LankaXpress.com) – The IMF Executive Board has reportedly approved the next tranche for Sri Lanka, marking a significant milestone for the nation’s economy.
“The IMF’s approval of the 2nd review of Sri Lanka’s program is a testament to our dedication to driving forward economic reforms and securing a prosperous future for all Sri Lankans. Onward and upward!” said Sri Lanka Foreign Minister Ali Sabry.
State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe announced that earlier today the board will discuss the second review of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and Article IV consultation.
In a post on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), Semasinghe expressed optimism about continued support from international partners. He highlighted that a favorable review outcome is expected to unlock the third tranche of approximately USD 330 million, boosting confidence in Sri Lanka’s economic reforms and growth.
Julie Kozack, Director of the IMF Communications Department, confirmed that the Article IV Consultation and second review are on the IMF Executive Board meeting agenda for June 12.
