Due to the intertropical convergence zone affecting the island’s weather, heavy showers of above 100 mm can be expected at some places in the Uva, Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces, the Forecasting Division of the National Meteorological Centre said.
They said that due to its influence, the current rainy conditions over the island are expected to enhance.
However, showers or thundershowers will occur over most parts of the island after 2.00 p.m.
Showers may occur in the coastal areas of the Western, Southern and Eastern Provinces and in the
Mannar and Jaffna districts during the morning.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
