A 30-year-old woman, an agricultural research officer in Tangalle had been hacked to death over a dispute related to her work this morning.
Police said the victim was attacked and killed with a sharp weapon in the Weliara area while she was travelling from her home for her fieldwork.
It was revealed she was killed by an individual in the same area due to a work matter that occurred the previous day.
The deceased was identified as a married woman, a resident of Netholpitiya, Weliara.
The suspect who committed the murder has been arrested by the police while the Tangalle Police is conducting further investigations.
