Lanka Sathosa Chairman Pasanda Yapa Abeywardena said the imported eggs have been in high demand, making record-breaking sales in a single day.

“We distributed stocks expecting them to last for at least three days, but we have been informed that eggs are mostly sold out at our outlets.

Out of 438,000 eggs, 420,000 have been sold today,” Abeywardena said.

“We have taken steps to replenish and maintain stocks in the Western Province,” he added.

Meanwhile, eggs will also be distributed to the Galle and Matara districts on Friday, Abeywardena said.
