Nov 01, Colombo: Cabinet approval has been granted to restrict the travel of ministers, state ministers and ruling party members of parliament to foreign countries during the days of the parliament sittings and the budget debate.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved the Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena’s proposal that ministers should not travel abroad during sitting days of parliament and during the budget debate except in case of urgent medical needs or very urgent work of the government.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister presented the program proposed for the budget debate related to the financial year 2023 to the Cabinet of Ministers for approval at the cabinet meeting held Monday and the cabinet has approved the Budget Debate Program -2023.

Accordingly, the Budget Speech (Second Reading of the Appropriation Bill) will be presented on 14 November 2022 and Budget Second Reading Debate will take place for 7 days from 15th to 22nd November.

Budget Committee Stage Debate will take place from 23rd November to 08th December 2022 and the Budget Voting will be held on the last day of debate.
