The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) will provide the monthly water bills to consumers only through email and SMS services from January 2024, NWSDB Commercial Deputy General Manager Piyal Pathmanatha said.

Addressing the media, he requested consumers to register themselves immediately for the SMS and E-bill services.

“Since October 1, the E-bill and SMS services have been started in Polonnaruwa, Trincomalee, Colombo South, and Kandy South to issue the monthly water bills,” Pathmanatha said.

He also said an on-the-spot tariff reduction E-bill service will be introduced for consumers on January 1, 2024.

Some facilities can be arranged for those who do not have them, Pathmanatha said.

“If any consumer changes their registered mobile number, they must re-register with the NWSDB via its hotline 07 1939 9999 by sending an SMS.

The water bill account number and the email address should be sent via SMS to the above hotline. Later, an email will be received, and after accepting the email, the consumer will be entitled to the E-billing system,” Pathmanatha said.
