Veteran Sri Lankan actor and film director Rex Kodippili has passed away at the age of 85, family sources confirmed.

Primarily acting as a villain for the most of his career, Kodippili appeared in more than 130 films and produced two films.

He was also honored with Janabhimani Honorary Award in 2019.

Kodippili made his debut film appearance in Kathuru Muwath in 1971. Some of his most notable character roles came through the characters such as: ‘Kadira’ in the film Muwan Pelessa, ‘Daanu’ in the film Raktha, ‘Ratne Ayya’ in the film Sagarika and ‘Sergeant Silva’ in the film Koti Waligaya.
