Another 100 tons of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) arrived to Sri Lanka today (August 25) from Haldia Port India. So far a total of 280 tons came from India to Sri Lanka within one week according to a tweet from High Commission of India in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
August 21, about 40 tons of Medical Oxygen arrived at Colombo Port via a commercial vessel. Indian Naval Ship (INS) Shakti with 100 tons of oxygen arrived at the port of Colombo on August 22 evening. Sri Lanka Naval Ship Shakthi arrived with approx. 40 tons of oxygen consignment.
As the number of patients who are dependent on oxygen has increased, Sri Lanka decided to import of 300,000 liters of liquid medical oxygen weekly required for the treatment of Covid- 19 patients.
