The Railway Drivers’ Union action has led to the cancellation of 11 train journeys scheduled for this morning. The Department of Railways has confirmed that these cancellations are due to the ongoing trade union action by engine drivers, affecting commuters.

According to the latest update the cause of the Engine Drivers’ trade union action is the cancellation of 11 train journeys initially scheduled for the morning of July 24th. This has resulted in drivers taking the decision to withdraw from duty by going on sick leave.

On July 23rd, eight trains had been canceled due to the ongoing trade union action by the Railway Drivers’ Union. With additional cancellations today, commuters are grappling with severe disruptions in railway services.

The main line train services have also been affected due to an unexpected breakdown of a train traveling from Rambukkana to Colombo near Veyangoda station.
