A bus transporting a group of foreign tourists has collided with a train on an unsafe level crossing in Waskaduwa early this morning (Nov.29).

As per reports, two foreign nationals have sustained minor injuries in the accident.

At the time of the crash, the bus had been on its way to gather more tourists from a hotel after picking up a group from another hotel.

Reportedly, these Czech Republic-bound tourists were supposed to board a flight at 9 p.m. from the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake.

Meanwhile, the train had been plying from Aluthgama to Chilaw when it collided with the bus.

The driver of the train has been admitted to the hospital for treatment after sustaining an eye injury. The two injured tourists were treated by ‘Suwa Seriya’ paramedics.

Passengers of the train involved in the crash have boarded another Maradana-bound train to reach their destination.
