Sri Lanka’s COVID deaths caseload and active cases increasing

212 deaths occurred on August 27 due to the COVID. This is the second highest single-day confirmed deaths in Sri Lanka. Over 4100 coronavirus related deaths have been reported in Sri Lanka last 28 days. Total number of fatalities in Sri Lanka increased to 8583.

According to Institute for Health Policy IHP data, Sri Lanka’s “Test Positivity Rate” seven day average shows as 29.1%. This is the highest Test Positivity Rate since the pandemic began last March.

According to Epidemiology Unit data, 4596 new COVID-19 cases were reported on August 28.

Sri Lanka’s active COVID patients count passed 57,000 mark. According to the data reported by the Epidemiology Unit, active cases count shows as 57,580.
