Vice Chancellors are given permission to reopen universities under several stages on any date subject to health guidelines says University Grants Commission UGC Chairman Prof. Sampath Amaratunga.
Under the first phase, only students who have been fully vaccinated for two weeks are allowed to enter universities.
State universities are expected to resume physical classes from November 1 after the completion of the undergraduates vaccination program. UGC expects all students to be vaccinated by the end of October month. Currently all academic and non-academic staff members in state universities have been fully vaccinated.
