Sri Lanka Navy relief teams are standby and ready for possible flood emergency due to Cyclone Yaas and active south-west monsoon condition in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka Navy pre deployed 04 relief teams in several areas in the Southern Province May 23 to extend relief measures to people, in the backdrop where flood risk is possible following the inclement weather.

Accordingly, 04 naval relief teams have been deployed by the Southern Naval Command at Hiniduma and Eppala in the Thawalama Divisional Secretariat as well as in Nagoda in the Nagoda Divisional Secretariat. Further, 08 more flood relief teams are on standby at the Southern Naval Command for immediate deployment at will.

Moreover, 26 relief teams from the Western Naval Command, 05 flood relief teams from the North Central Naval Command and 18 teams from the North Western Naval Command are kept on standby to provide relief measures to the people who would be affected by possible floods due to the adverse weather condition prevailing in the island.
