Sri Lanka Government and Private Schools starts April 19

All Sinhala and Tamil government schools and government approved private Schools in Sri Lanka will begin April 19 for the second term. Muslim schools will start on May 17.  According to a circular ‘school terms 2021’ (No. 36/2020) vacation started April 9 after the first term in all government schools (Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim). Furthermore, according to the same circular all Sinhala and Tamil schools are started on 19.04.2021 for the second term and the Muslim schools will start on 17.05.2021. 

2021 Grade 05 Scholarship Exam postponed and will be held on October 3 Sunday. It was discussed at a meeting that it would not be fair to hold the examinations August due to the schools not being conducted and the syllabus not being covered properly. Hence Sri Lanka Minister of Education Prof. G.L. Peiris said the 2021 Grade 05 Scholarship Exam postponed and will be held on October 3 Sunday.

2021 A/L Exam has been postponed and will begin from October 4th – 30th. G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination for the year 2021, which was scheduled for August, has been postponed to October, says the Sri Lanka Minister of Education Prof. G.L. Peiris. Accordingly, the examination is set to take place between October 4 and 30.

2021 G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination has been postponed. O/L Exam will be held on 2022 January final week and probably it will end February first week. Examination Department has NOT released the exact time table of 2021 O/L exam. Education Minister Prof. GL Peiris says O/L Examination has been pushed to the final week of January 2022.

Sri Lanka Minister of Education, Prof. G. L. Peiris says that 2020 Advanced Level Examination A/L Exam Results will be released April end (after April Avurudu season). Examination Department officials have not so far announced the exact releasing dates. Based on the 2020 A/L examination results, steps will be taken to admit students into universities by 2021 September Minister further said.

All universities will re-open for academic activities after the Sinhala and Tamil Avurudu New Year under strict health safety precautions, stated the Chairman of the Sri Lanka University Grants Commission UGC Senior Professor Sampath Amaratunga.

According to the sources, 2020 A/L Zscore cut-off marks will be release July end. Z-score cutoff marks will be released to UGC official website www.ugc.ac.lk
