Government and government approved private schools will resume from July 25. However, the Ministry of Education stated that until further notice, schools will be held only on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
On Wednesdays and Fridays, activities are provided where students can engage in learning activities from home or online teaching activities. The Ministry of Education further stated that the provincial education secretaries, provincial education directors, regional education directors, deputy and assistant education directors in charge of divisions as well as principals have been informed about this.
However, all schools governed by the Southern Provincial Council have decided to hold 5 days a week starting from July 25.
Southern Provincial Education Ministry Secretary has stated that due to the fact that most of the school children in the Southern Province come to school on foot and by bicycle, it has been decided to hold schools 05 days a week.
