Possibility of occurring a flood situation in some locations of Attanagalu, Kalu, Kelani, Gin, Nilwala and Mahaweli rivser. General public living in flood prone areas of above river basins requested to be vigilant in that regards, tweeted Disaster Management Centre.
Irrigation Department issued Pre-Flood Warning for residents living close to flood prone areas near Attanagalu, Kalu, Kelani, Gin, Nilwala & Mahaweli river basins (especially upstream areas) from tonight August 30 for the next several days.
Extreme caution requested if using those rives and their tributaries.
A low-level atmospheric disturbance is likely to develop in the vicinity of Sri Lanka. Hence Showers or thundershowers will occur over most parts of the island during the evening or night.
Heavy showers above 100mm can be expected at some places in Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, North western, North-Central and Eastern provinces.
Showers may occur in the Western and Southern provinces during the morning too.
General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
