Several areas in Sri Lanka are experiencing power outages. Ceylon Electricity Board says that the power outages may be experienced today as the demand for electricity is higher than the supply.
The 3rd generator at Lakvijaya power plant in Norochcholai that was added to the national grid yesterday malfunctioned again due to technical fault. Due to the this 270MW of power loosing to the national grid.
The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), the electricity sector regulator, stated that the despite of the breakdown, demand for electricity can be managed.
