According to police, so far over 2400 arrested over the May 9th unrest in Sri Lanka. Police spokesman says 2423 suspects arrested and out of them 1069 suspects remanded while over 1300 persons released on bail. Police so far received 856 complaints.

Anti-government protesters set on fire and damaged the residences and offices of at least 100 politicians, including over 70 parliamentarians. More than 80 vehicles including buses which transported pro-government protesters were either set on fire or damaged.

So far police arrested 26 suspects over the Galle Face and Kollupitiya protest sites attack.

Two more individuals including a Three-wheel driver have been arrested over the death of MP Amarakeerthi Athukorala during the unrest on 09 May. The police stated that 25 persons have been arrested in this regard.

Police spokesman express gratitude to the public for their interest and assistance in identifying the suspects.
