Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara says the statement made by the Electricity Engineers’ union that there will be a 10 hour power cut due to lack of coal is FALSE.
He further said legal and disciplinary action will be taken against them.
Nihal Weeraratne, President of Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers Association said that after the country’s coal stock is exhausted on the 31st of this month, three power generators at the Norochcholai ‘Lakvijaya’ power plant will be shut down and after that there will be a power cut for 10 hours.
