Special transport arrangements have been made by the Railway Department and the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) to facilitate the commuters who will be traveling during the Christmas season conveniently from Colombo and suburbs to their distant  home towns in outstation.

Gamini Seneviratne, the Railway Deputy General Manager (DGM), stated that an additional 27 trains will be added to the existing timetable.

Meanwhile,  SLTB Deputy General Manager Panduka Swarnahansa said more buses have been assigned for people to travel from Colombo and the suburbs to their distant home towns. The services have been initiated as of today.

Accordingly, many buses have been scheduled to leave from Pettah Central Bus Stand for many major towns in the country. The service will continue until the beginning of the new year.

He also said the buses have been assigned for the people to return to Colombo soon after Christmas and New year.

Meanwhile, senior officials at the district and provincial depots have been advised to assign more buses to town and village areas, Swarnahansa said.
