Due to prevailing rainy weather, major and minor flood situation reports in several areas. Major flood situation reports in Seethawaka river Deraniyagala area. Minor flood situation reports in Kelani (Kithulgala), Kalu (Ratnapura) Gin Ganga (Thawalama) and Nilawala rivers (Panadugama) areas.

Meanwhile MET forecasts more rains and strong winds coming days.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western and Southern provinces. Heavy showers above 100 mm can be expected at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. A few showers will occur at North-Central Province. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Eastern and Uva provinces during the evening or night.

Strong gusty winds up to 60 kmph are likely at times over western slope of the Central hills and gusty winds up to 50 kmph at times are likely in Northern, North-Central, North-Western and Southern provinces, Trincomalee district and Western coastal areas.

A Considerable rainfall exceeding around 150 mm has been occurred in most of Upstream catchment areas of Gin Ganga Basin as of 4.00 AM today. By analyzing the current rainfall situation and river water levels of Hydrological Stations in Gin Ganga, there is a possibility of occurring a Minor flood situation in lowline areas of Gin Ganga valley situated in Welivitiya Divithura, Baddegama, Kotapola, Niyagama, Neluwa, Tawalama, Akmeemana, Nagoda, Elpitiya and Bope poddala D/S Divisions within next 24 hours. It is requested to pay high attention in this regards by the residents in those area and vehicle drivers running through those areas Disaster Management Authorities are requested to take adequate precautions in this regards (Please refer the attachment 02 for further clarifications).
