Expect Heavy Rains as Low Pressure in Bay of Bengal Close to Sri Lanka

Cyclonic circulation in the Bay Of Bengal is expected to spin up a low in the South of part of Bay Of Bengal. Due to the system, heavy rains are expected in Sri Lanka and India.

Department of Meteorology in Sri Lanka says a low level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka and will affect the weather over the country during the next few days.

Rains or thundershowers will occur at most parts of the island particularly during the evening or night. Heavy showers above 100 mm can be expected at some places in Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces.

Showers may occur in the Western and southern coastal areas during the morning too.

General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
