Australia become the first team to win all four ICC trophies – the ODI World Cup, the T20I World Cup, The Champions Trophy and now the Test Mace.

Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane kept India alive in the run chase after India lost Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara. India are 164/3 and need 280 to win from the final day. Scott Boland broke Indian hearts after he dismissed Gill right at the stroke of Tea before Sharma and Pujara were snapped up by Nathan Lyon and Pat Cummins. Gill and opening partner Rohit Sharma had started started steadily mining 41/0 after the first 7 overs before Boland’s strike.

India will have to pull off the highest-ever successful fourth-innings run chase if they are to win their first global ICC trophy in 10 years.

West Indies set the record when they chased down 418 to beat Australia in Antigua in 2003. India’s task looks even more daunting since the highest-ever successful run chase at The Oval is 263, which England achieved against Australia more than a century ago, in 1902.
