On the apparent northward relative motion of the sun, it is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka during 05th to 15th of April in this year. The nearest areas of Sri Lanka over which the sun is overhead on April (14th) are Kiranchi, Kokavil and Puthukkuduirippu at about 12:11 noon.
MET Department Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre issued heat warnings for Eastern and North-Central provinces and in Colombo, Gampaha, Kurunegala, Kilinochchi, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu and Hambantota districts.

Expect over 30 c̊ temperature at several districts including Colombo, Galle, Kandy, Jaffna and Trincomalle.
Health officials request the general public to consume more water, due to the hot weather condition prevailing these days. They further say that drinking less water could lead to dehydration easily and advised children, athletes and those who stay outdoors often to hydrate themselves.
Heat index, the temperature felt on human body is expected to increase up to ‘Caution’ level at some places in Eastern and North-Central provinces and in Colombo, Gampaha, Kurunegala, Kilinochchi, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu and Hambantota districts.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts during the afternoon or night.
Mainly fair weather will prevail elsewhere over the island.
General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
