Heavy Rains

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. Heavy showers above 100 mm may occur at some places in these areas. Several spells of showers may occur in the Anuradhapura district.

Winds

Strong winds about (40-50) kmph can be expected at times in western slope of the central hills, Northern, North-Central and North-Western provinces and in Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.

NBRO issued WARNING LEVEL 3 – EVACUATION (RED) for Ratnapura, Kalawana, Elapatha, Kuruwita and Eheliyagoda DS Division(s) and surrounding areas in Ratnapura district.

National Building Research Organization NBRO issued landslide level 1 warning for Colombo, Kalutara, Kegalle, Ratnapura, Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Matara and Galle Districts.

Floods

Irrigation Department issued FLOOD WARNING for NILWALA RIVER. There is a possibility of occurring a considerable flood situation in lowline areas of Nilwala River valley situated in Pasgoda, Kotapola, Pitabeddara, Akuressa, Athuraliya, Malimbada, Thihagoda, Matara and Ayagama Devinuwara D/S Divisions. It is requested to pay high attention in this regards by the residents in those area and vehicle drivers running through those areas.

There is a possibility of occurring a considerable flood situation in lowline areas of Kalu Ganga valley situated in Pelmadulla, Nivithigala, Ratnapura, Kuruvita, Ayagama, Elapatha, Palinda Nuwara and Bulathsinhala D/S Divisions.

A considerable rainfall has been occurred in catchment areas of Gin Ganga Basin by 6.00 PM today. analyzing the current rainfall situation and river water levels of Hydrological Stations in Gin Ganga, there is a possibility of occurring a considerable flood situation in lowline areas of Gin Ganga valley situated in Welivitiya Divithura, Baddegama, Thelikada, Niyagama, Neluwa, Tawalama, Nagoda, Elpitiya and Bope Poddala D/S Divisions. It is requested to pay high attention in these regards by the residents in those area and vehicle drivers running through those areas Disaster Management Authorities are requested to take adequate precautions in these regards.

A considerable rainfall has been occurred in most of catchment areas of Aththanagalu Oya Basin as of 1.00 PM today. By analyzing the current rainfall situation and river water levels of Hydrological Stations in Aththanagalu Oya, there is a possibility of occurring a considerable flood situation in lowline areas of Aththanagalu Oya and Uruwal Oya valleys situated in Gampaha, Attanagalla, Mirigama, Ja-ela and Wattala D/S Divisions.

Lightning
