European Union to Sri Lanka calls on President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
EU delegation had a constructive meeting with President Ranil Wickremesinghe. EU is a partner in challenging times. For us, protection of civil & human rights, above all freedom of expression & right to dissent, is of utmost importance. We agree bringing Sri Lanka back on track requires joint & inclusive action. On foreign affairs, EU encouraged the President to devote special attention to 3 ongoing key processes:
1️⃣ GSP+
2️⃣ IMF
3️⃣ Human Rights Council
The EU hopes that concrete steps will be taken by the government to make these processes a success.
