President Ranil Wickremesinghe says that the Domestic Debt Restructuring DDR process will be debated in Parliament on July 1 & 2.

Before that Domestic Debt Restructuring DDR plan will be put to the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday (28 June). Also Domestic Debt Restructuring DDR process will be further discuss at the Committee on Public Finance on June 30.

It is expected to complete the domestic debt restructuring process during the five-day long bank holiday from June 29 to July 3rd.

Meanwhile, a Fundamental Rights FR petition was filed before the Supreme Court, seeking an order preventing the slashing of loans taken from the EPF and ETF, during the proposed Local Debt Restructuring process.

Governor of the Central Bank Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe says that no deposit in any bank in the country will be harmed in the process of restructuring the domestic debt.
