A special Cabinet meeting has been called for on Wednesday (28 June) to discuss the domestic debt restructuring process. Domestic Debt Restructuring DDR process will be further discuss at the Committee on Public Finance on June 30 and will be debate in Parliament later.

It is expected to complete the domestic debt restructuring process during the five-day long bank holiday from June 29 to July 3rd.

Meanwhile, a Fundamental Rights FR petition was filed before the Supreme Court, seeking an order preventing the slashing of loans taken from the EPF and ETF, during the proposed Local Debt Restructuring process.

Governor of the Central Bank Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe says that no deposit in any bank in the country will be harmed in the process of restructuring the domestic debt.
