A discussion on promoting cultural tourism between Sri Lanka and China was at the Religious and Cultural Affairs Ministry recently.

A group of officials from the China Cultural Association discussed with Cultural Affairs Minister Vidura Wickramanayake and Foreign Ministry officials to promote cultural tourism activities in Sri Lanka.

Accordingly, it was discussed conducting Chinese wedding ceremonies, musical and dancing events, and programs relating to the elderly community.

The Minister agreed with the proposal and said the Sri Lankan Government would provide maximum support in promoting Chinese tourists touring Sri Lanka. The delegation said that they were keen on starting the promotion activities as soon as possible.

The President of the Association said that they had already selected several cultural places to conduct their events. He also requested the Minister if it is possible to display the details of the culturally valued areas in the Chinese language as Chinese tourists were not fluent in other languages. Minister Wickramanayake approved the request.
