Imposed police curfew lifted.The Police curfew imposed in seven Police Divisions last night will be lifted as of 8am today (9).
The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) informs that the imposition of police curfew arbitrarily by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) is illegal. The HRCSL directs the IGP to recall this illegal order which is a gross violation of the fundamental rights of the people immediately.
The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) expresses its strong protest at the imposition of a purported police curfew within parts of the Western Province by the inspector General of Police. BASL call upon the Inspector General of Police to immediately withdraw his illegal order.
