Troops of the Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna once again donated much-needed blood to save the lives of hospitalized patients in Jaffna following a request made by Jaffna Teaching Hospital medical officers. As blood stocks in the Jaffna Teaching Hospital have drastically fallen short of requirements for surgeries, particularly in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, the urgent need was projected to the troops.
This programme was carried out by 4 Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps (SLAMC) troops with the assistance of doctors and medical staff at Jaffna Teaching Hospital. A total of 100 troops, including Officers donated blood on the guidelines given by the Commander, Security Forces -Jaffna, Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku.
General Officer Commanding 51 Division, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area North, Brigadier Admin and Quartering of Security Force Headquarters Jaffna, Brigade Commanders, Senior Staff Officers of Security Force Headquarters Jaffna, Commanding Officers, Officers and troops were also present.
Jaffna troops routinely respond to such hospital requests and are in the practice of giving blood bank to save lives.
