UPDATE – The total value of gold MP Ali Sabri Raheem was carrying when he was taken into custody by the Sri Lanka Customs at the BIA exceeds Rs.74 million. 91 smart phones which were in his luggage, valued at more than Rs.4.2 million, was also seized, bringing the total value of the seized goods to more than Rs.78 million according to the Sri Lanka Customs.

Parliamentarian Ali Sabri Raheem taken in to custody by the Sri Lanka Customs at the Bandaranaike International Airport along with uncleared 3.5kgs of gold according to Hirunews sources.

He was taken in to custody by Sri Lanka Customs on arrival at BIA with uncleared gold.

He is the All Ceylon Makkal Congress’ organiser for Puttalam District.

Raheem contested the 2020 parliamentary election as a Muslim National Alliance electoral alliance candidate in Puttalam District and was elected to the Parliament of Sri Lanka.
