National Building Research Organisation NBRO says that the Air Quality Index that measures Air pollution, Colombo has recorded 181 today (08). 150 – 200 in the AQI is termed “Unhealthy”. According to the AQI, Colombo, Kandy, Ratnapura, Jaffna and Vavuniya districts also NOT healthy.
The Ministry of Environment requests the public in Colombo, Kandy, Rathnapura,Jaffna & Vavuniya districts to be cautious of high air pollution.
Dr Anil Jasinghe, Secretary, Ministry of Environment requests children & elderly individuals with respiratory & heart diseases to wear a face mask during outdoor activities.
