Prevailing showery condition in south-western part of Sri Lanka likely to continue

Due to active South West Monsoon conditions over the island, prevailing showery condition in south-western part of the Island is likely to continue further.
Heavy showers, about 100 mm are likely at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle, Matara, Puttalam, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.

Asia Cup super 4 matches will be held in Colombo on September 9, 10, 12, 14 & 15. According to the MET department forecast 30mm -50mm rainfall will be expected on September 10 -11.

During last 24-hour period Padukka (Colombo district) reported 90.0mm rainfall while Deniyaya ( Mathara district) 80.5mm reported.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. A few showers may occur in Mannar and Hambantota districts and in North-central province.

Fairly strong winds about (40-45) kmph can be expected at times in western slopes of the central hills, Northern, North-central and North-western provinces and in Trincomalee and Hambantota districts. (LankaXpress.com)
