Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) says that the Sri Lanka’s official Reserve Assets increased by 26.2% to USD 3,483 million in May 2023, compared to USD 2,761 million in April 2023. This includes a swap facility from People’s Bank of China, USD 1.4 billion, which is subject to conditionalities on usability.

In November last year, Sri Lanka’s foreign reserves dropped to USD 1.58 billion. When the Rajapaksa government took office in November 2019, country’s foreign reserves were approximately US$ 7.5 billion.
