Sri Lanka’s COVID death toll passed the 15,000 mark with 24 COVID19 deaths confirmed. According to the Director General of Health Services these deaths had taken place January 1 and the total number of fatalities in Sri Lanka increased to 15,019.  Sri Lanka is now the 47th country to cross the 15,000 deaths mark.

Among the dead majority were males. Out of the 14,016 deaths, 8428 are male while 6591 are females.

The majority of the deaths are of the people in the over 60 years of age group. 76.43% percent deaths are above age 60 years group. 22.40 percent are 30-59 and 1.17% are below the age of 30.
