Sri Lanka Embassy in Riyadh Felicitates two long-served migrant workers in Saudi Arabia
As part of the Embassy’s initiative to honour long-serving Sri Lankan migrant workers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ameer Ajwad felicitated Mr. Sallay Yazid Rizwie, who had served for 39 years and Mr. Mohamed Riza Huda who had served for 32 years at Jockey Club of Riyadh in the Kingdom in recognition of their dedicated services to the host as well as home countries.
During the felicitation ceremony held at the Embassy premises on 20th November 2025, Ambassador Ameer Ajwad emphasized that Sri Lankan migrant workers in Saudi Arabia constitute a vital pillar of the strong bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia and that their valuable contributions to both nations must be recognized and celebrated by a fitting manner. Ambassador presented mementoes to both migrant workers in recognition of their long years of service with the enduring spirit of Sri Lankan professionalism.
The felicitation is part of the Embassy’s ongoing initiative, launched in July 2024, to acknowledge senior Sri Lankan migrant workers who have rendered exceptional services to both Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia over the years. To date, the Embassy has honoured six such workers from diverse professional backgrounds.
Minister/Head of Chancery Mr. Mohamed Anas, Counsellor/Employment & Welfare Mr. Mangala Randeniya, First Secretary/Trade Ms. Tashma Vithanawasam, and Third Secretary/Employment & Welfare Mr. Sandun Nishantha of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Riyadh were present at the felicitation ceremony. The family members of the migrant workers were also present.
