National Election Commission says that Postal Voting for the Local Government Election postponed indefinitely reports newsfirst.lk.

Earlier, Postal voting for the 2023 Local Government election planned to be held on 22, 23 and 24 February.

Election Commission has informed the Political Party Secretaries that it will not be able to direct the ballot papers for Postal Voting on February 15, as previously planned. Government Printer has refused to print them until due payment are made.

The Chairman of the Commission said the commission has informed the Secretary of the Ministry of Finance in writing that around Rs. 770 million is required in February for the expenses of the upcoming LG election.

Election Commission has informed the Supreme Court that all necessary steps have been taken to hold the Local Government Elections.
