The Police Chief IGP has decided to dismiss a police sergeant who pleaded guilty for not performing his duties in the Easter Sunday attack.

At the time of the Easter attack in April 2019, an investigation was conducted in relation to an intelligence police sergeant who was on duty at the Katana Police Station who failed to perform his assigned duties.

Based on the findings of this preliminary investigation, a charge sheet has been issued against the police sergeant under 12 charges of breach of discipline. This officer has pleaded guilty to all the charges at the first instance. Therefore, the Inspector General of Police has decided to dismiss that officer.

Accordingly, from June 14, 2004, the police headquarters dismissed the police sergeant from police service and issued a relevant order.
