A total of 125 motorists who violated traffic rules received warnings yesterday following the launch of a pilot project aimed at identifying offenders through the CCTV system in Colombo.

Police initiated the programme yesterday, and it will run for a week to raise awareness on the initiative among motorists.

Starting from February 01, the enforcement of laws against traffic violators will begin.

Police said 125 traffic violations were observed through CCTVs in Colombo, and warnings were issued to the owners of the vehicles as an initial step.

Offenses such as violating lane rules and failure to halt at stop signs were among those observed.
