The All Island Canteen Owners’ Association (AICOA) today claimed that even though eggs are provided for bakery products, there has been no price reductions on any bakery items.

AICOA chief Asela Sampath told the media that the government imported eggs from India and provided them to bakeries and restaurants at Rs.35 each.

However, there has been no price reductions on bakery products. When inquired from several customers, they said even though the price of eggs was slashed, the prices of any of the bakery items have not been reduced.

However, several attempts to contact the Bakery Owners’ Association chairman to get a comment failed.
